Furniture Industry News Update

As part of a new initiative aimed at assisting its licensees to grow and expand retail relationships, Mattress Development Co., the licensor, and manufacturer of Eclipse International and Eastman House sleep products, reports that it has named 43-year industry veteran Thomas Rehwinkel vice president of sales and marketing.

As a seasoned sales executive, Rehwinkel has held sales and executive posts with several leading mattress manufacturers including Simmons, Spring Air and Tempur-Pedic. During his five years with Tempur-Pedic, Rehwinkel oversaw the company’s sales activity on the East Coast. Rehwinkel’s stint as executive vice president for bedding retailer Sleepy’s provided him the insight into unique retail strategies at retail.

In his new position, Rehwinkel reports to Stuart Carlitz, CEO of Eclipse International and Eastman House.

“As our brands grow, we needed someone with the proven track record Tom brings to help us work with our licensees and their current and future retail partners to better sell and merchandise our products. He has a wealth of experience with leading brands like Simmons, Tempur-Pedic and Sleepy’s that can be a real asset to all our customers. We are excited to have him on our team” Carlitz said.

Rehwinkel lives in Skillman, N.J., with his family. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut.
