HIGH POINT – The fast-growing adjustable bed base category can help retailers boost their store traffic, build higher sales tickets and reap higher profits, bedding producers say.
They also agree that those bases can also help retailers improve their in-store experiences, sparking excitement on the sales floor.
But they caution that giving adjustable bed bases away in bedding promotions undercuts a strong retail category.

Stuart Carlitz said, “Adjustable bases seem to be selling well for retailers that have embraced promoting the products as a giveaway, as well as for those who floors them through the showroom underneath mattresses for a more experiential selling process.
People are now using the bedroom for more than just sleep. The health-conscious consumers see adjustable bases as a great benefit, whether sitting up and reading, working on a laptop, improving circulation or reducing snoring or other health issues.
The product will continue to drive consumers into stores. Most consumers see adjustable bed bases as a great option over a foundation that does nothing.”
